Tired of clicking? Try some keyboard shortcuts
Almost everyone I know uses the mouse more than the keyboard. We all are so used to using the mouse for everything except typing. I’m included in that group. You can do a lot with the mouse, but you can save a lot of time if you keep your fingers on the keyboard. Here is a quick list of keyboard shortcuts that work for almost every Windows program in existence:
| Ctrl-X | Cut |
| Ctrl-C | Copy |
| Ctrl-V | Paste |
| Ctrl-P | |
| Ctrl-N | New (Window, Document, Spreadsheet, File, etc.) |
| Ctrl-A | Select All |
| Ctrl-F | Search |
| Ctrl-S | Save |
| Ctrl-O | Open |
| F1 | Help |
| Ctrl-Z | Undo |
| Ctrl-Y | Redo |
| Alt-F4 | Closes the current window |
| Alt-Tab | Switch between windows |
| Ctrl-Tab | Switch between tabs(Firefox/Internet Explorer) |
| System-L | Locks the computer |
| System-D | Minimize every window |
| System-F | Windows Search |
There are tons more. Each program is different though. To figure out what keyboard shortcut does what, just go through the menu with your mouse. They are all listed on the same line as the menu item.
Happy shortcutting.
